Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the things we often get asked about regarding our process and practices.

Is This  Legal?

Under Colorado Amendment 64 Law, adults over the age of 21 are able to  "legally possess up to one ounce of marijuana while traveling, and give as a gift up to one ounce to other citizens 21 years of age or older."  Top Shelf Budtending provides the consultation and services to ensure that this "gifting" process is done safely and responsibly in a private event setting. (Cannabis is purchased at a legal dispensary by the event planner / client)

What about Safety?

Top Shelf Budtending is a certified "Responsible Vendor" in the state of Colorado.  By completing the Responsible Vendor Certification, we are educated in responsible cannabis consumption, products, I.D. verification and how to detect intoxicated persons. To reinforce our promise to safe and responsible consumption, we also provide verification wristbands and tokens. (similar to drink tickets)  This ensures that guests are staying within their allowances and avoiding any potential over indulgence.

Where Can Events Take Place?

Events can only be held in a private space during a private event.  Many "traditional" venues are not cannabis friendly.  No worries, we have experience with many of the cannabis friendly venues in the state of Colorado. Even if the event space you originally had booked is not cannabis friendly, there are other methods of legal consumption areas available.  Some examples are smoke friendly party buses, limos and other transportation.  Tents and outdoor areas, away from the main traffic are options as well.  Edibles/drinkables packages can be used in place of smoked bud if a venue is smoke free.  Also, remember that you want to book a venue that does not have an existing liquor license, as cannabis could jeopardize the establishment's standing with the license.
